Partners in the project “Strengthening resilience of older persons and persons with disabilities during COVID-19 and future disasters” – a three-year initiative in the Western Balkans region, coordinated by the Serbian Red Cross and supported by the European Union, the Austrian Development Agency and the Austrian Red Cross – gathered in Belgrade in order to exchange experiences in previous work. This project was launched at the end of 2020, and it connects partners from the civil society of the Western Balkan countries and a large network of civil society represented by older persons and persons with disabilities at the level of the European Union.

The theme of the gathering was “Engagement in relation to policy makers and advocating for policy changes in the process of EU accession”, as well as a discussion of past activities and challenges in the previous and future periods in order to carry out all planned activities on time.

The overall goal of the project is to contribute to strengthening the resilience of older persons and persons with disabilities in the Western Balkans during COVID-19 and future disasters. The specific goal of the project is to make older persons, persons with disabilities, CSOs, and local organizations better able to cope with the COVID-19 crisis in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Kosovo*.
