Prevent Bullying and Peer Violence in Schools

The project “Prevent Bullying and Peer Violence in Schools”   implemented by the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and is funded by the Government of Germany. Within the framework of the project, the SeConS Development Initiative Group is responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and reporting on the findings. The research team is composed of experts with extensive experience in the study of peer violence in schools. The primary goal of the research was to identify key areas where intervention is needed to establish a safe and supportive school environment. The research was carried out across Serbia using a representative sample of primary and secondary schools. Three groups of respondents were included:

  • • Students in the 5th and 7th grades of primary school and the 1st and 2nd grades of secondary school,
  • • Parents of the students,
  • • School staff, including principals and professional associates.

The sample was designed to enable conclusions at the level of the four statistical regions in Serbia. Based on the collected data, recommendations are being developed to support the improvement of policies in the field of children’s education, with a focus on the prevention of bullying and peer violence in schools.
