In Montenegro, 44.9% of people over the age of 65 have serious difficulties in performing daily activities, and among them, there are more women. This is the finding of the study entitled “Access to long-term care services in Montenegro” that was created as part of the three-year project “Strengthening resilience of older persons and persons with disabilities during COVID-19 and future disasters”. The study was implemented in the Western Balkans region with the coordination of the Serbian Red Cross and the support of the European Union, the Austrian Development Agency and the Austrian Red Cross.
Speaking at the presentation of the study, TijanaVeljkovic from SeConS Development Initiative Group said that the results collected from all the locations that participated in the study, will be the basis for formulating recommendations on how to increase the capacities of service providers and civil society organizations, how to improve public policies and increase financial contributions and to ensure better access to long-term care services for older persons and persons with disabilities in regular circumstances, and especially in case of emergency situations such as the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus.
