What is the role of civil society organizations in development cooperation and what is the future of development policy, international development cooperation and global development was the topic of the Conference “The future of development cooperation in Serbia: from the recipient to the development aid provider – global development cooperation and the creation of an incentive environment for creating a dialogue between the state and CSOs” which was held on 16th October in Belgrade.

The conference brought together representatives of civil society organizations, institutions and the media in order to discuss about the role of civil society in future development policies and processes in Serbia, as well as to establish a dialogue between CSOs and government representatives.

Slobodan Cvejic, SeConS director of research, was a panelist during the first panel discussion, which focus was on the role of CSOs in national processes in relation to development cooperation, as well as the future of development policies at the European level.

The second panel discussion was about the Law on Development and humanitarian aid and defining the Development cooperation strategy.

The conference is part of the “Global Development and the role of CSOs of the Western Balkans” project implemented by the Austrian development and humanitarian organization “Horizont3000” with the help of partner organizations from Serbia, Association “National Parliament” from Leskovac and “Civic Initiatives” from Belgrade.
