The migration crisis initiated many questions which relate to different aspects of human security. Irregular migrants in Serbia are in an especially difficult position, as they do not have an asylee status, and cannot go to another country due to closed borders. This group encounters threats to physical and economic security, as well as threats which endanger their human rights.

During the migrant crisis, numerous local and international civic society organisations played a key role in offering various types of services to migrants. However, the responsibility for offering support services should be taken by the state, in order to ensure their durability.

The state should also advance international cooperation, the system for keeping records of irregular migration, as well as undertake all necessary measures to protect irregular migrants, and help them get into regular frames.
