Analyzing the needs of safe houses in six cities in Serbia

SeConS Development Initiative Group participates in the project “Improving the safety of women and girls by increasing the effect of safe houses for victims of gender-based violence and domestic violence”, which is being implemented by the Women’s Support Center Kikinda, in cooperation with the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Serbia (UN Women).

The main goal of the project is to improve the services of a safe house as a specialized support for women and children who have experienced domestic violence, in order to help them overcome the resulting trauma and continue to live a life free from violence. The key part of the project is aimed at strengthening the capacity of safe houses in accordance with the prescribed structural and functional standards for providing this service. To achieve this aim, the SeCons team has been in charge of evaluating the existing capacities and analyzing the requirements of safe houses in six cities in Serbia (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sremska Mitrovica, Sombor, Zrenjanin, and Pančevo). Moreover, the SeConS team has been in charge of monitoring and evaluating the results of the activities planned on this project.
