Social Inclusion of Older People in Serbia

Research on Social Inclusion of Older People in Serbia
Supported by: Red Cross of Serbia

October 2017 - March 2018

SeConS is currently carrying out research on social inclusion of the elderly in Serbia, with a special focus on risks of social exclusion. This research is being conducted within a three-year regional project „Taking Action on Social Inclusion of Older People (TASIOP)“, which aims to indicate the biggest problems older people in Serbia encounter. Civil society organisation networks from five countries are taking part in the project. Red Cross of Serbia is coordinating the project, which is funded by the European Union, Austrian Development Agency, and Austrian Red Cross.

Main goals of this research are to:

• Identify the data which will serve as a basis for formulating arguments for public advocacy and for specific advocacy activities;

• Provide recommendations for changing those public policies in Serbia, which in some way influence the risk of social exclusion of older people.

The research on social inclusion of older people in Serbia and the risks of social exclusion will comprise a combination of the quantitative and qualitative approach. A report will be made based on the acquired results. The report will contain key data, research findings, as well as recommendations for enhancing existing and developing new programmes or similar interventions directed at providing support to older people. Additionally, acquired data will be employed for formulating arguments for public advocacy, with the goal to make an impact on those public policies in Serbia, which in some way influence the risk of social exclusion of older people.
